NYX Soft Matte Lip Creams

NYX Cosmetics are taking the UK by storm at the moment. When I (finally) saw an NYX counter in my local Boots I got a bit too excited and picked up as many of their products that I could/as many as I could justify spending my money on! I mainly bought the Soft Matte Lip Creams because I've seen lots of other bloggers raving about these ones.

SMLC01 Amsterdam

SMLC08 San Paulo

SMLC10 Monte Carlo

SMLC19 Cannes with Nude Lip Pencil

The range of colours is really impressive; it took me ages to narrow my selection down to four colours and I'll definitely be going back for more! The Lip Creams give a lovely opaque matte finish without making my lips feel dry. Despite being moisturising, the colour lasts on my lips for a few hours, however, I did have to reapply it halfway through a night out because it did start to wear off. I find the applicator really easy to use and I sometimes apply a lip liner beforehand to help guide it on - but this isn't essential. I also picked up the NYX Retractable Lip Liner in Nude to pair with the Lip Cream in the shade Cannes. The Lip Liner is very soft and it's a lot less hassle to use than an ordinary lip liner because you don't have to sharpen it.

I will definitely be popping back into Boots over the next few days to pick up more NYX products. Have you tried any products from NYX Cosmetics?

Everyday Summer Makeup

I have been planning on posting an everyday summer makeup look for a while now and I've finally got round to it! During the summer I prefer to go for a more minimalistic look because I can't handle a full face of makeup in hot weather (although this isn't usually an issue in England!).

Firstly, I apply the Benefit That Gal Brightening Face Primer all over my face (I forgot to include this product in the last photo!). After letting this sink in for a few minutes, I then use the Vichy Idealia BB Creme - I apply this with my fingers rather than using a brush because it gives quite light coverage so doesn't really need blending in. If I have any blemishes then I dab the Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer on to them and blend with my Real Techniques Expert Face Brush. Using my Real Techniques Blush Brush, I apply the Benefit Hoola Bronzer to my cheeks and up round the sides of my face and forehead. Next, I use The Balm's Mary-Lou Manizer above my cheek bones, on my brow bones, down my nose, and on my cupid's bow to give my skin more of a glow. I curled my eyelashes to give them a bit more of a lift before apply the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara. Sometimes I don't bother with my eyebrows but when I took these photos I decided to use the Maybelline Brow Drama to make my eyebrows more defined. Finally, I applied the Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker XL Extreme Plump Lipgloss to finish my look - it's a lovely nude gloss that gives a 'my lips but better' finish.

I hope you enjoyed this sort of post! What are your favourite products to use in the summer?

Favourite Summer Scents

There are certain scents that instantly remind me of summer; today I thought I'd share with you what those scents are.

A perfume that I've been using for years is Daisy by Marc Jacobs. This one smells AMAZING! It's probably my favourite summer scent out of all of my perfumes. Daisy is a mixture of Strawberry, Violet, Jasmine, Musk, and Vanilla. Also, the bottle is really cute, and I got the 20ml one which fits perfectly in my handbag so I can spritz it on throughout the day. The only problem with this perfume is that the scent doesn't last as long as the other perfumes I use.

The next perfume I love using in summer is Modern Muse by Estee Lauder. I bought this perfume in Rome last summer so whenever I wear it it reminds me of my holiday. Modern Muse has a stronger scent than Daisy but it's not overpowering. The perfume contains: Exotic Mandarin, Honeysuckle Nectar, Dewy Petals, Jasmine Sambuc, Amber Wood, Fresh Lily, Patchouli Coeur, Patchouli Crist, and China Absolute. The bottle is beautifully designed with a bow on top and the scent lasted all day.

Eternity by Calvin Klein is another perfume that I love to wear in the summer. I used to wear this one all the time (as you can see by how little is left in the bottle!), however, I don't wear it as much anymore - but I still think it smells great. Eternity combines Freesia, Mandarin, Sage, Muguet, White Lily, Marigold, Marcissus, Patchouli, Sandalwood, and Amber. This perfume is great to wear in the day or at night, and it also doesn't really need to be topped up.

The latest addition to my perfume collection is the DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom that featured in my May Favourites post. This perfume is very refreshing - like I'm constantly smelling my wrists throughout the day haha! It contains Apple Blossom, Citruses, Rose, Violet, Woodsy Notes, Orris Root, and Musk. Fresh Blossom lasts throughout the day, however, the scent isn't as strong towards the end of the day. Thanks to this perfume though I now want to try all of the perfumes from the Be Delicious range!

What perfumes do you love to wear during the summer months?

Blog Collaboration with Shopping Obsessive

As well as my usual post on a Sunday, I've got an additional post for you today. Recently, the lovely Kristina from Shopping Obsessive contacted me to ask if I would like to do a blog collaboration. I jumped at the chance because our blogs are very similar - Kristina posts about beauty and lifestyle too. This is the first blog collaboration that I've done and we decided to ask each other 10 questions (so if you want to find out my best beauty trick, my go-to lip combo, or my favourite makeup brand then go check it out on her blog!). Here are Kristina's answers to my questions...

1. Why did you start blogging?
I have been planning on writing a blog for a long time, but I never actually got around to it. Recently, however, I decided to start doing it. I've always been a huge beauty and fashion lover and it seemed natural for me to start sharing my "knowledge" with others. I love blogging and I'm happy I finally created my own blog!

2. What is your favourite high-street clothes shop?
Definitely Zara! But I also love Oasis, Benetton and Dorothy Perkins.

3. What is your favourite makeup brand?
That would have to be Benefit. I love everything I've tried from them.

4. What is your favourite blog and why?
I love Laura from, as she's very fashionable and funny. She is Dubai based, which gives her blogposts a different vibe. She writes about fashion, beauty and lifestyle and I always find her posts interesting.

5. If you could meet any celebrity who would it be and why?
Woah, that's a tough one! I think it would either be Eva Longoria or Blake Lively. I'm the biggest Desperate Housewives/Gossip Girl fan on the planet and I'm obsessed with these two actresses. I love both of them because they seem to be very down to earth. Also, they're both super fashionable and always pretty. I'd definitely get some good fashion and beauty tips from these two.

6. What makeup product do you buy the most of?
Mascara, since I use it up so quickly.

7. If you could wear only one, would you wear eyeshadow or lipstick?
Lipstick, because I feel like a look is never complete without some lip color.

8. Do you use fake tan or wait to tan naturally?
I usually sunbathe only and end up getting a nice color. With me, some of the tan stays on the skin the whole year round, which is a bonus. This year, however, I'm planning on testing out the St. Tropez Tan Booster. Wish me luck.

9. Do you prefer straightening or curling your hair?
I straighten my hair on a daily basis because I find it faster than curling, but I actually prefer the look of curly hair on me. My natural hair isn't naturally curly, but it's also not straight, so I can pull off both looks.

10. What are your plans for your blog over the summer?
I'm going to do a lot of pre-blogging in order to make sure there will be constant updates on my blog for my readers to read. It's probably going to be super tough, but I'll hopefully succeed!

May Favourites

I have a slightly delayed May Favourites post for you today - this post was supposed to go up yesterday but I was busy moving out of my university accommodation!

My first favourite is the Soap & Glory Sugar Crush Body Scrub. I have used this scrub before but I had forgotten how much I love this until I saw it recently in my local Boots. The scrub smells amazing; it's a mixture of brown sugar, sweet lime, almond oil, and macadamia grains. It leaves my skin feeling soft and refreshed.

Next up is the DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom Eau de Parfum. For a while now I have wanted one of the Be Delicious perfumes because they all smell amazing! I picked the Fresh Blossom one because it smells fresh, which is perfect for spring or summer. Also, the scent lasted for quite a while (about 4 hours), which is something I usually struggle with.

Finally, I treated myself to two NYX products; the Soft Matte Lip Cream in shade 'Cannes', and the Mechanical Lip Pencil in shade 'Nude'. I love how soft the lip cream is because it doesn't feel matte at all but it looks amazing! Also, I found that the lip pencil matched the shade of the lip cream nicely, and it was very soft and easy to apply. I picked up a few more shades of the Soft Matte Lip Creams, so I'm going to do a full review and swatches of them soon.

Sorry that this has been such a brief favourites post this month! Hopefully I'll have more favourites next month. What have you been loving in May?
