Lush Bath Bombs

From left to right: Intergalactic, The Experimenter, Sex Bomb

Lush make my favourite bath bombs - I think they make everyone's favourites! They smell amazing and turn my bath water into pretty colours. Recently, I've been using a lot of their bubble bars, so I thought I would treat myself to a few of their bath bombs whilst I was shopping the other day.

Sex Bomb is my number one bath bomb. Every time I go into Lush I pick up at least one of these because they smell incredible. This bath bomb makes the bath water a beautiful pink colour and the petal floats on top of the water. Sex Bomb contains Jasmine, Clary Sage Oil, and Ylang Ylang Oil. It leaves my skin feeling super soft for around 24 hours.

The Experimenter is a bath bomb that I've never seen before - I picked it up because of the bright colours! The smell of this one is quite strong (some people may find it overpowering), I like how strong the smell is because it makes my bathroom smell amazing. This bath bomb contains vanilla, which is an ingredient that I love, and it also contains popping candy, which came as a surprise because I didn't realise this was in the bath bomb until I put it in the water!

Intergalactic is another bath bomb that I've never tried before. I was drawn to this one because of the vibrant blue colour and the glitter. This bath bomb also contains popping candy, as well as; Peppermint Oil, Grapefruit Oil, Vetivert Oil, and Cedarwood Oil. I haven't used a bath bomb with this combination of ingredients before, but they left my skin feeling silky smooth.

What is your favourite bath bomb?

L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt Mascara

The L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt mascara featured in my March Favourites post and I promised a full review later this month, so here it is! The past year or so I haven't bought any cheaper end mascaras because I've been really impressed with my Benefit mascaras. However, I'd seen so many pictures of people wearing this mascara and it looked amazing so I had to get it!

This mascara has a plastic wand, and I usually prefer the brush wands, however I find this wand coats my lashes just as well as the brush wands which I use. The wand on this mascara fans out so it manages to cover all of your lashes and gives them a bit of a curl - although I usually use an eyelash curler beforehand. The mascara brush gets very close to the waterline to give a full volume effect. It also lengthens my lashes significantly; I'd say to nearly double their natural length! The wand is easy to use on my bottom lashes as well as my top lashes because it isn't too big. The only problem with this mascara is that it sometimes smudges underneath my eyes, however, this could be because I have quite oily skin. Other than this, this is the best cheaper-priced mascara that I've tried in years and will definitely be repurchasing it.

Have you tried this mascara? Or what's your favourite mascara at the moment?

Victoria Sponge with Strawberries and Cream

Today I thought I'd share with you a different post to usual. I baked a Victoria Sponge and added cream and strawberries on top to make it more refreshing. The sponge turned out light, soft, and springy. The recipe I used was from 'The Cooking Book', however, I adjusted it slightly.

- 175g butter
- 175g caster sugar
- 3 eggs
- 175g self-raising flour
- 6-8 tbsp strawberry jam
- 180ml double cream
- 20g icing sugar
- Punnet of strawberries

- Preheat the oven to 190*C (375*F/Gas 5). Lightly grease and line the bottoms of the tins with greaseproof paper.
- Beat the butter and sugar together until pale and fluffy.
- Add the eggs a little at a time, beating well after each addition. If the mixture begins to curdle, beat in 1-2 tbsp of the flour. Sift the flour and fold into the mixture.
- Divide the mixture equally between the two tins, and spread evenly to level the tops. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until pale golden and springy to the touch. Allow the cakes to cool in the tins for 5 minutes, before turning out on to a wire rack. Peel off the lining paper, and allow to cool completely.
- When the cakes are cool, place one upside down on a serving plate, and spread with the strawberry jam.
- Whip the double cream until it holds its shape. Then spread it over the jam, and put the other cake on top of it. Spread cream on the top cake and decorate with strawberries.

Have you baked anything recently? Let me know in the comments if you try to bake this cake.

March Favourites

It's that time again where I reflect on what I've been loving over the past month. Unfortunately, due to being busy revising for exams, I don't have very many favourites this month, but I will still share with you the few favourites I do have...

Firstly, my brother bought me a pack of Yankee Candles in the scent Vanilla Cupcake and they smell AMAZING! I already have tons of Yankee Candles but I've never come across this scent before. I usually light a few whilst I'm revising and they make my room smell great.

Next up is an Antibacterial Makeup Spray from The Pro Hygiene Collection. I spray this on my makeup brushes after I've washed them in soapy water, and it makes me feel so much better about using the brushes on my face as the spray kills 99.9% of bacteria. The spray can also be used for creams, gels, powders, lipsticks and pencils too - once a week I go through my makeup collection and spray everything with this.

It's been a while since I've bought a new mascara - the Benefit mascaras work so well for me that I haven't bothered to try anything else! However, I decided to buy the L'Oreal False Lash Sculpt the other day and I LOVE IT! This is now my go-to everyday mascara because it gives my lashes so much volume with just one coat. I plan on doing a full review on this later in the month so keep your eyes peeled.

Finally, I read #Girlboss by Sophia Amorusa this month. Her story is so inspiring - she went from a high-school dropout to building a multi million dollar business. Sophia gives useful tips for anyone else who wants to be a #Girlboss and on how to succeed in the business world. This book really motivated me to try harder and achieve more.

I hope you enjoyed reading my favourites from this month. What are your favourites from March?
